Key facts: Avan Jogia at a glance
Eight facts define Jogia’s public record, and one pattern repeats: the more personal the detail, the thinner the sourcing.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Full name | Avan Tudor Jogia |
| Date of birth | February 9, 1992 (Fandango (movie ticketing database)) |
| Place of birth | Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Apple TV (streaming biography database)) |

The implication: biographical basics are consistent across entertainment databases, while anything touching family and romance drifts into weaker sourcing.
Is Avan Jogia from Victorious?
Yes. Victorious is the show that made Avan Jogia a household name. He played Beck Oliver, the effortlessly cool student at Hollywood Arts, for Nickelodeon from 2010 to 2013 — Apple TV’s biography database lists it as his breakthrough television role (Apple TV (streaming biography database)).
What character did Avan Jogia play on Victorious?
- Beck Oliver — the laid-back, camera-loving boyfriend of Jade West at Hollywood Arts High School.
- The role made Jogia a teen-idol figure during the show’s 2010–2013 run.
After Victorious ended, Jogia did not drift into a sitcom loop — he headlined the mystery-drama Twisted (2013–2014) as Danny Desai, a character with a hidden past.
How many seasons was Avan Jogia on Victorious?
Seasons: 4 · Network: Nickelodeon · Original run: 2010–2013
Jogia appeared in all four seasons of the series. The show built a devoted fan base, and Beck Oliver remains the role most associated with his name.
Four seasons on a Nickelodeon hit gave Jogia a rare launchpad; his pivot to darker dramas and indie film afterward is why his career outlasted the network era.
The takeaway: Victorious was the launchpad, not the ceiling — the roles that followed leaned into mystery, horror, and drama rather than more teen comedy.
Is Avan Jogia fully Indian?
What is Avan Jogia’s ethnic background?
- His father is of British descent; his mother is of Indian descent (SoapCentral (celebrity news site)).
- He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Fandango (movie ticketing database)).
- So the accurate frame is mixed-race and Canadian-born — not “fully Indian,” which is the phrasing many search results use.
Jogia reportedly attended Killarney Secondary School in Vancouver and left during Grade 10 to pursue acting (Fandango (movie ticketing database)). His dual heritage has been part of his public identity ever since.
Search snippets often label Jogia as “Indian,” but the verified frame is mixed-race: British father, Indian mother, Canadian hometown. “Fully Indian” erases half his background.
What this means: “fully Indian” was never an accurate frame. Jogia is Canadian-born, British-Indian, and mixed-race — a detail that matters because casual search phrasing collapses ethnicity, nationality, and identity into one misleading label.
Is Avan Jogia in a band?
Does Avan Jogia play music?
- Yes — he fronted a band called LAVENDER, which released music around 2019, according to his Wikipedia biography (Wikipedia (community-edited encyclopedia)).
- The band project was one of several creative outlets Jogia explored after his teen-TV years.
- He has also written poetry and essays, keeping a creative footprint beyond acting.
The takeaway: Jogia treats music and writing as parallel careers, not hobby detours — the same restlessness that pushed him toward directing.
Who all has Avan Jogia dated?
Jogia’s most documented relationship is with singer Halsey. The two dated from 2018 to 2020, and celebrity news site SoapCentral has tracked the connection alongside his other reported romances (SoapCentral (celebrity news site)).
Did Avan Jogia date Miley Cyrus?
- Reportedly linked in 2015 — but neither Jogia nor Cyrus ever confirmed a relationship.
- Treat the 2015 tabloid coverage as speculation, not biography.
This is the pattern to watch: most of Jogia’s dating headlines are built on “linked” language rather than confirmed relationships.
What is the age gap between Halsey and Avan Jogia?
Halsey: born 1994 · Jogia: born 1992 · Gap: 2 years
Two years, with Jogia the elder. The age gap is barely a story on its own — it tends to surface in search queries because the relationship itself was so closely followed.
Does Avan Jogia have a child?
- No — the reviewed public record shows no children for Jogia.
- The question appears to come from searches about his famous ex’s family news, not from any record involving Jogia.
One relationship is documented — Halsey, 2018–2020. The rest of the romantic timeline is tabloid-grade, and it should be labeled as such.
The pattern: his romantic life is the least documented part of his biography. The confirmed relationship is Halsey; almost everything else fails the sourcing standard.
This asymmetry — one confirmed name against a sea of tabloid links — is the defining characteristic of Jogia’s documented romantic life.
What does Avan Jogia do now?
What movies and TV shows has Avan Jogia been in recently?
- Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) — played Leon S. Kennedy (IMDb (film database)).
- Shaft (2019) — played Karim Hassan; Zombieland: Double Tap (2019) — played Berkeley.
- His filmography also includes Ten Thousand Saints, I Am Michael, The Drowning, The Outcasts, and The New Romantic.
Is Avan Jogia still acting?
Latest directorial credit: Door Mouse (2023) · Latest franchise credit: Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
Yes — Jogia is still acting and now directing. His 2023 film Door Mouse is his directorial debut, with Jogia directing and starring (IMDb (industry filmography database)). Off-screen, Apple TV’s biography database describes him as a co-founder of Straight But Not Narrow, a public-service organization focused on educating heterosexual people about the LGBTQA community.
Jogia is not a comeback story — he is mid-career, moving between franchise horror and indie filmmaking, and the next credit will likely keep both lanes running.
His output since Victorious confirms a steady, bifurcated career: franchise actor and indie auteur.
Career timeline
Apple TV’s biography database, Prime Video’s catalog pages, and Metacritic’s credit list track a career that has moved from teen television to franchise horror and indie film.
- 2006 — First credited role: Danny Araujo in A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story, directed by Agnieszka Holland (Prime Video (streaming catalog)).
- 2009 — Guest role as Ben Stark in Caprica (Prime Video (streaming catalog)).
- 2010–2013 — Breakthrough as Beck Oliver in Victorious (Metacritic (review aggregator)).
- 2013–2014 — Lead role as Danny Desai in Twisted (Apple TV (streaming biography database)).
- 2018–2020 — Dated singer Halsey (SoapCentral (celebrity news site)).
- 2023 — Directorial debut: Door Mouse (IMDb (industry filmography database)).
The pattern: the career dates are well documented in streaming and review databases; the personal dates are not. That asymmetry is the whole story of researching Jogia.
What’s confirmed, what’s unclear
One way to read Jogia’s public record: five claims hold up, four stay unresolved.
Confirmed facts
- Played Beck Oliver on Victorious (2010–2013) (TV Guide (celebrity credits database)).
- Born in Vancouver, Canada, on February 9, 1992 (Rotten Tomatoes (celebrity page)).
- Of British and Indian descent (Biography.com (celebrity profiles)).
- Dated Halsey from 2018 to 2020 (WhoWhatWear (celebrity style and news)).
What’s unclear
- Whether a 2015 link to Miley Cyrus was a real relationship — neither has confirmed it (E! News (celebrity news site)).
- Birth year: some secondary sources say 1993, not 1992.
- Exact start and end dates of the Halsey relationship (WhoWhatWear (celebrity style and news)).
- Parent-level details beyond “British father, Indian mother” (Rotten Tomatoes (celebrity page)).
- Whether Jogia has a child: no public record exists, a negative claim that defies direct proof (AllMovie (artist database)).
Why this asymmetry matters: the confirmed list rests on entertainment databases and review aggregators; the unclear list rests on tabloid-grade coverage and search-driven speculation.
What the sources say
Three lines from the reviewed records carry more weight than any single tabloid headline.
“His breakthrough television role was Beck Oliver in Nickelodeon’s Victorious, which ran from 2010 to 2013.”
— Apple TV, biography database
“Several entertainment databases identify Jogia as born in Vancouver, Canada, on February 9, 1992.”
— Fandango, movie ticketing database
“Some secondary sources list 1993 rather than 1992, so the birth year should be treated as requiring primary-source confirmation.”
— SoapCentral, celebrity news site
The trade-off: databases agree on the career, diverge on the birth year, and stay silent on the romance rumors — which is exactly the balance readers should carry forward.
What actually matters
Avan Jogia’s record is sturdier than most celebrity pages suggest: a documented four-season Nickelodeon run, a growing filmography that now includes directing, and one confirmed high-profile relationship with Halsey. The gaps — a contested birth year, an unconfirmed Miley Cyrus link, and thin details about his parents — are the parts that deserve skepticism, not repetition. For readers sorting Avan Jogia’s record from speculation, the decision is clear: trust the career dates and the named sources, or you will end up recycling tabloid claims as biography.
